There is now a DNA test determining CEA
(Collie Eye Anamoly) genetic status. We
have had Barney tested and he is certified
as homozygous normal (not a carrier).
Because of number of Border Collies have
determined to carry CEA including stud
dogs we have used, we are getting our
entire kennel tested. We encourage all
owners of Border Collies who are being used
to breed (or will be used) to get the test.

Ch Korella Royal Command "Dallas"
(import Australia) is AFFECTED by CEA
though he obtained a CERF NORMAL
CERTIFICATE when we used him, all his offspring
will be genetic carriers and may only be bred to
DNA tested normal Border Collies.
Rio's and Vegas's mom, Daily is Optigen DNA tested normal. We hope that breeders and fanciers will be
sensible in using this information to breed
wisely, still striving for sound, typey dogs,
and not use this information as a way to
destroy one another.

Sadly, we regret to announce the death of our beloved Barney, Ch Borderbreeze Barnstormer From Darkwind, import U.K.
Words cannot express the pain of this loss, even though he had a long and happy life.
Most all of current Darkwind dogs descend from him, and if they don't it was so they could be bred to the Barney line. Barney was Optigen CEA DNA tested as normal before his death.

Ch Darkwind Legacy of Ewe, Darkwind Masquerade, Darkwind Heather's Lace, Darkwind Dances On Clouds, Ch Darkwind Mirage of Blackrock (Jet) and his sister Ch Darkwind Tropical Fun at Blackrock (Mango) have been Optigen CEA tested as DNA homozygous normal. We have a number of carriers of course, given the situation with Dallas, but testing goes on. Thanks to all the wonderful owners who have been so generous and supportive in getting the testing done.
